In Cambodia there has been a shortage
of information and communication about wood energy issues.
So in January 2000 the Cambodia Fuelwood Savings Project
(CFSP), in collaboration with the Centre d'Etude et de Dévéloppement
Agricole Cambodgien (CEDAC) established the Wood Energy
Network of Cambodia (WENetCam). WENetCam is hosted by CEDAC
and financially supported by ARECOP (Asia Regional Cookstoves
Program) and the European Union through GERES (Renewable
Energy and Environment Group, French NGO).
WENetCam carries out a wide range
of activities. These include giving training sessions, providing
technical support, monitoring and evaluating ICS programs,
updating the national ICS database, increasing awareness
of issues through information, education and communication,
working with other energy efficiency networks (ARECOP Asian
Regional Cookstove Program), appraising marketing strategy
and defining new ICS prototypes.
Based on previous experiences,
CFSP considers WENetCam to be important as a forum to communicate
and exchange experiences between members, as well as to
link the ICS program in Cambodia with other networks.
